Cristo Rei is a 27 metre-high statue of Jesus located on a globe in Dili,Β Timor-Leste and surely it's most recognizable landmark too.

This one on the peninsula in Metiaut, Dili is my daily route at the moment for a good dose of fresh air, ocean time and a little exercise, plus more often than not also involves a coconut or coffee stop too. πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ
It felt so good to finally have time to get out on It felt so good to finally have time to get out on the bike, armed with the drone, a heap of batteries, a face mask, and head out to the peninsula to explore of little of Timor-Leste from above. It's hot, sweaty work and a good ole workout too but I just love seeing the landscape from a different perspective. I'm feeling very justified for eating an entire bag a salted caramel bliss balls, a few coffees and a couple of soda waters to replenish after the little adventure... Just a word of warning, you might be seeing a few more of these...

Is there any better way to quench the thirst on a Is there any better way to quench the thirst on a hot and humid day than a roadside coconut? In Dili, Timor-Leste, it'll cost you $1 USD per coconut and it'll be opened with a machete for you to drink and/or eat depending on your preference. Personally, I opt to drink the refreshing liquid and don't eat the meat but what's your preference? Drink, eat or both? πŸ₯₯ #hauniatimorleste
One month ago we touched down on the shores of Tim One month ago we touched down on the shores of Timor-Leste after a 9 month hiatus. We, like everyone else, completed 2 weeks of quarantine upon arrival, had our negative test, and we're released into freedom, albeit under an extended state of emergency throughout TL to prevent the virus coming across the borders. We've been attempting to simply find our feet, well Ashlee has been working, and I'm finding my feet, while also reconnecting with friends, making new friends, finding a house, now that is a huge challenge, and generally trying to just acclimatize to life in TL once again. It's exhausting. And it definitely requires plenty of small steps forward, a few back, and so on, but yesterday we found a house, a huge step forward, and will move in soon (fingers crossed...). Next steps? Well, the actual move from our temporary accommodation to the house, setup the house to be our home, and, I guess at some point I should consider what to do for the next few years?! All ideas are most welcome! πŸ˜€ πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡±
As we wave goodbye to 2020 and take a sec to refle As we wave goodbye to 2020 and take a sec to reflect... there's 3 things in this photo which massively helped me last year... coffee, chocolate and work... The coffee and chocolate both helped to establish a much needed routine and we're simply delicious. Everyday at around 3pm I'd stroll to my local coffee shop for my daily fix, some fresh air, and a chat with new friends and strangers alike, and the work, well the short term contract I picked up at one of New Zealand's Ministries to support and implement planning best practice helped so much more than I expected. I was anxious after being out of the game for a few years, but needless to say, as soon as I began, it was like I had never stepped away, and was instrumental with helping to settle the mind, re-establish connections, and provide me with something other than being repatriated from Timor-Leste to focus on. And being surrounded with a community of fantastic people was just priceless. I enjoyed it so much that what started out as 14 days turned into 5 months, and it was a real pleasure to be involved. Now, as we kick off 2021, I fully intend to keep all of these things in my life, albeit in a different county, and maybe work of a slightly different nature, but time will tell and here's to 2021! πŸ’•
