We we're going to go on a cycling trip today... th We we're going to go on a cycling trip today... that was before we found out the septic tank was full and we had water flooding out of our toilet and all over the bathroom floor... πŸ˜‘
If you follow my IG stories you'll know I crashed, If you follow my IG stories you'll know I crashed, lost and FOUND the drone earlier this week and trust me, it was a somewhat stressful time. However, this was one of the shots I captured just before the wind picked up, the battery drained and the drone disconnected from the remote and came down on a hill just out of sight to the bottom of this shot. But I lost sight of it and had no idea where it might have crashed but luckily the flight path took me pretty close and there it was. One good thing I took from the whole experience was getting to hike up the previously unexplored hill to a rocky outcrop overlooking the ocean, which was pretty spectacular, and once I had found the drone, could take a BIG, DEEP breath and soak it up. πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡±
Just a glimpse... as we cycled from Dili to Hera o Just a glimpse... as we cycled from Dili to Hera over the weekend on the newly sealed road and WOW what a difference a road makes, better connectivity, less dust, less mud and less time. πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈ
It's been a very full week of productive coffee/co It's been a very full week of productive coffee/coconut meetings to discuss potential freelance videography and social media projects in Dili, Timor-Leste. And I must admit that some of them sound AWESOME and I'm super excited to get started on them. But more on that soon... It's Friday night here and I've just returned from drinking another coconut but this time not a meeting but to celebrate finding my drone! It's somewhat stressful crashing, losing and FINDING your drone all within the space of an hour! But I'm hoping it'll be worth it... we shall see... Righto, time to see what footage I actually managed to capture... 😁
A day in the life... is now LIVE! So, if you've ev A day in the life... is now LIVE! So, if you've ever wondered how I spend my day or just curious to see more of Dili in Timor-Leste, then pop over and take a watch (link in my profile) and see me, attempt to track down a bicycle, practice my tetun with a truck driver and whizz around the city getting my errands done (while squeezing in a few coffees + coconut too). Let me know what you think and whether you want WAY MORE or WAY LESS of this type of thing! πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡±
CYCLING IN DILI 🏍 πŸš— 🚌 🚚 I get asked a CYCLING IN DILI 🏍 πŸš— 🚌 🚚 I get asked a lot of questions about cycling in Dili from people planning to move to TL, and to be honest, it's actually not bad at all. Generally, the traffic moves in a somewhat predictable manner, so my advice is... always be alert and ready to stop for bikes, cars and trucks slowly pulling out of junctions in front of you, be aware of people overtaking you on both sides, vehicles slowly pulling away as you attempt to overtake a stopped vehicle, and vehicles driving two abreast, plus keep an ear out for anything that has a siren blaring as they'll be going very fast, and finally... keep an eye out for microlets suddenly pulling into the curb to pick up/drop-off customers. Keep those few things in mind, move intentionally, stay alert, take it slow, avoid lunch time and 5 o clock ii you want to avoid the chaotic hours, and trust me, you'll have a blast. And head out towards Metiaut as often as possible, which is much quieter, beautiful and you're right next to the ocean too! Oh and finally, wear a helmet and lock your bike... have fun! πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈ
MARKET | Around Timor-Leste you'll find lots of fr MARKET | Around Timor-Leste you'll find lots of fruit and vegetables stalls with the produce neatly presented in a small pile or on a plate. For example, you'll notice the tomatoes and potatoes are stacked on a small plate and you simply pick which one you would like. They'll typically cost anywhere between 50 cents to 2 dollars per pile or plate depending on what, where and when you're buying and how much you're feeling like bartering for your produce. πŸ₯•πŸ₯’πŸ«‘πŸ…πŸ₯”πŸ§…πŸ† #hauniatimorleste
A T A U R O I S L A N D | I believe the decision A T A U R O I S L A N D | I believe the decision has been made to make the island a municipality in its own right, so it's no longer considered Dili, however since returning to Timor-Leste, we haven't had an opportunity to visit this wonderful place again yet. But as soon as the wind calms down a little and there's some free time in our schedule (well Ashlee's schedule as mine is somewhat flexible right now! πŸ™‚) we will get the water taxi tickets booked and whizz across for some much needed island time + snorkeling + hiking + drone flying and just general well-being. It's a real beauty of a spot which holds so many great memories from the past few years and hopefully more to come too! πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡±
I've been out of action for the past 3 days thanks I've been out of action for the past 3 days thanks to a stomach bug... there's been a real lack of anything active or exciting and I'm massively missing the bike rides, flying the drone and drinking coffee or eating anything at all. However with all this downtime I've had plenty of time for sorting my hard drives full of photos and footage, it's an ongoing battle that's for sure, plus catching up on watching my favorite show on Netflix at the moment, Dark. I highly recommend checking it out. Okay, I'm off to attempt to eat a poached egg and toast, my first meal for a while... let's see how that goes!
